There are 127 properties in total and 110 of these are owned by shareholders in CGM. There are 83 three-bedroomed "lodges" and 44 one-bedroomed semi-detached "cottages". The cottages are sometimes referred to as "apartments" or "suites" or the "aparthotel" but in this web site they are almost always referred to as "cottages".

Who rents the lodges?

From 1993 to 2003 the lodges were marketed and managed by the former management company. In 2004 the lodge partnerships decided to transfer the marketing of the lodges from CDL to SCI. In 2004/5 the lodges needed to be upgraded to meet the 4-star self-catering standard.

Who rents the cottages?

Not many cottages are available for rent.

What is the Management Agreement?

Most properties in Ireland are liable for waste charges and every property must be insured and the grass must be cut regularly. Lodges and cottages in Clifden Glen are no different in this regard. In addition the site services in Clifden Glen such as roadways, public lighting, and "mains" water and sewage treatment are not vested in Galway County Council. The cost of maintaining these services must be met by the properties that utilise them. The charge for 2005 was €1,800 plus VAT per Lodge and 65% of this for Cottage properties. See Management page. The management fee has not changed since 2005.

What is the situation with ESB accounts on the site?

All properties are individually metered for ESB. The heating system is electrical.

What is the position with the existing club house and reception building?

These buildings are owned by the management company and not the partnerships or property owners. The reception is a fine two storey new building housing the site reception and offices. This building is available for the benefit of shareholders and theirguests.
