NOTICEBOARD

Circular 167 / 27.04.07 / Patio Doors and Insurance

A number of Lodge owners have expressed interest in replacing the windows of the dining area with patio doors and we can advise that a Lodge has now been fitted with patio doors leading on to a private decked area (no. 40). After careful consideration CGM must advise owners that due to the strong prevailing winds that are common in the west of Ireland and Clifden Glen's open environment it is advisable to only install sliding patio doors as French doors (or swing open doors) are liable to catching in the wind and can cause damage to the doors and/or frame. Owners should also note that if swing open doors are installed CGM will not be liable for the insurance of these doors. CGM will not pursue any claim against its insurance for any damage to swing doors should it occur and CGM will not be liable for replacement of same.
